Chandrayaan-I realese date declared near October or December 2008 | ISRO Chandrayaan Project wiki information

Chandrayaan-I will be unmanned mission, which will pave the moon in two years and involves a five Indian and six other international experiments. In 1304 kg heavy satellite will be launched by a modified version of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.

Kasturirangan showed that ISRO has participated in intensive test of its ability to survive under extreme heat and vacuum environment and other vibration and acoustic tests, which are slated to be finished this month. Chandrayaan-I will be carried out until the end of October or beginning of December without launches planned in November, traditionally the cyclone season.

Major mission objectives include:

  • To identify the height variation of the lunar surface features along the satellite track
  • High resolution mineralogical and chemical imaging permanently protected from the north and south polar regions.
  • Monitoring X-ray frequencies greater than 10 Kev and stereographic cover most of the surface of the Moon with a 5m resolution, provide new insights into understanding the moon is the origin and evolution
  • Identification of chemical end members of lunar soil by high cliffs
  • Search for surface or sub-surface water ice on the moon, especially at the lunar pole

The ISRO has been added, has already started work on its next lunar mission, Chandrayaan-II, a joint mission between India and Russia, which will see a country ISRO moon rover that will collect samples of dust and rocks.

Chandrayaan 2 (2012)

Bangalore, november 14 : Under the Indo-Russian space cooperation to new heights, the two countries will start joint lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 in 2011-12 with the Indian Space Research Organisation build a lunar orbitar Russia and a Lander / Rover to move on the moon's surface.

ISRO and Russia 's Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos) has signed an agreement on joint lunar exploration and research in recent visit Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Russia.

By giving details of the agreement, ISRO release here today said the agreement envisages cooperation Chandrayaan-2, a joint lunar missions include lunar orbiting spacecraft and Lander / Rover on the Moon "from the surface. Several scientific instruments from other space agencies in May also be placed on these systems to the public, he said.

Activities to launch Chandrayaan-1, India 's first unmanned mission to moon during april 2008 was progressing well. Space ship was in the final phase of integration and testing, and will be launched on board India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). This mission featured a spacecraft in orbit around the moon for two years, at an altitude of 100 km mapping, topography and mineralogical content of the lunar surface.

Chandrayaan-1 would also have an impact on the Moon verification payload to demonstrate technologies required precise landing on the Moon "from the surface. Chandrayaan-2 is the next logical step for a more detailed and in-situ study of the Moon in this version added .
