"Friends" were saying everything from "best ever Olympian" and "You make Baltimore so proud" to "congrats dude ur the best athlete ever:)" and "meee marry." Why are we loving him? Because that this is a freak (or a freak of nature)? Because it is a boy of Baltimore? Because he is cocky, but not out of control cocky? Because it hands flowers to his mother in the stands after winning gold? Because we can not help but see a little of ourselves in a great Olympian? Because it helps us feel connected to history? Whatever has Phelps is beyond the facebook page Will Smith according to NBC. Not too bad - for a swimmer of B-plus.
