He is a very good writer but the thing is that in his book 3 mistakes of my life he had ingredients of religion which can hurt some sentiments

the first two were genius..... not yet read the third one........ despite all comments adamant to read it... literature is not that great but flow is always captivating... you are a true narrator chetan... hope to read more of yours in near future...

Three mistakes..is slow initially, u ll feel its not dark or fast..but later on it takes speed n u cant drop book untill u finish it..

An Average Book. Thinks the Author was a bit hurry to wrap up the book.

five point sm1 was rly gr8.n one night had witty writing although d content was'nt as gr8 as dat of ur earlier novel......n i hvnt read three mistakes as yet..still ur truly a revelation of sorts wen it cmz to easy goin writing..more so light n fun filled readz...keep up d gr8 work....

i really liked this book...n i dont agree wid ppl who say the storyline was similar to his other books...n the characters are similar to his previous books, but i like it dat way and it doesnt make the story less interesting or something...its a really good book and whoever's thinkin of buyin it shud buy it...its just 95 bucks...u wont b disappointed...loved this book...

'Five Point Someone' was definately the best of the lot....one night sucks...3 mistakes is not bad...one thing I didnt understand is how Govin'd first mistake connected with his popping up sleeping pills.....and hated it's end.....why did the author kill Omi..I always despise death of one the important charater of any novel...

chetan rocked in first two books.I think people are taking the end of one night in wrong sense.about god talking to them.its how narrator wrote but it really means it was voice from their inside....

And third book is good but pretty same character and story.so not much interesting...

I have read only a few books in my life, but among them this one is the best.

The 3 mistakes of my life is good...but as is mentioned above, five point someone was definitely better.

Good points...
Cheaply priced at 95Rs
Very dramatic and one can identify with the characters.
Cricket + Love + Politics + Friendship....= Success

Bad points...
Demonises the Hindu party (BJP) and glorifies the secular one (Congress)
Many subplots are left halfbaked
The characters are similar to his earlier ones.-- 3 friends. Alok in fps is Omi now -- a loser. Ryan is Ish ..carefree. And the narrator is the guy who falls in love!

But still worth buying///

One of my frnds has brought this book (3 mistakes..)for me, but i donnu y m not feeling as to read it further :( Its very much like the previous ones..but those two buks were really very nice n esp. 5.sumone is a masterpiece.. but 3 mistake...hmmmmm... well.. will get back to comment after completing it :)
hope its not as bad as the reviews. Lets not get judgmental here. After all, its Chetan's book, my fave author :)

3 mistakes...i havent completed it yet ..but i am already taking more than my stipulated time to complete this small book...i have finished dan brown's books faster than this...so i dont need to mention that its not a gripping novel very unlike 5. someone

only a 1 book wonder. Really 3 mistakes of my life has nothing spl to offer. The same style of writing about similar characters makes it a predictable read. Somehow I didnt understand why so much fuss was made about loving a friend's sister. I mean till it was sincere honest love and not fooling around it was perfectly fine!
Also I hated the way Hindus were shown as fanatics and the other people were conveniently called 'secular'. Looks like the author hasn't done his ground work.
'I will share this story by writing a book' sounds so old n lame a reason for writing a book on this story
The book is not special at all on any count, going ahead to prove Bhagat has given whatever he had in his 1st book only. He has nothing more in store

you have really involved lots of real facts (like earthquakes, india vs aus match), and all... Ali story to australia is finished very early and nothing after they come to india, the whole purpose is suppressed...

its realy a good book, but not as good as earlier ones...

you could have avoided the real real facts,which dragged the stories...even i have watched india vs australia cricket series, that part of story is almost like watching a cricket program after match or reading news paper....

1) It isnt worth reading at all.
2) If you have read any English novel before(by foreign author) you wont like this one..... definitely
3) The theme is the same for all Chetan Bhagat's stories

3 mistakes - is fabulous,but the end is almost cinematic.I think u have set some theme for your stories as because u r previous novels are a big hit. As a good fan of yours i dont like u to write stories for a theme. May be u choose the young generation to write stories but u can think "out of the box" also. Isn't it to difficult for you to be a versatile writer? Take a risk for your 4th novel as your 1st and see the difference.

this seems like a totally crazy thing to do.. the story was gripping, in all its completeness in the above mentioned bollywood aspects.. and what got me here online was not the eagerness to post a comment on it.. indeed i read a couple of the reviews in this page, and they have been pretty straight, honest and exhaustive. The only thing that amazed me was the curiosity to know if indeed all of this happened.. and if so, I'd definitely love to leave a note for all of the characters..

and if, chetans stories are all true.. barring the ONAC.. (which i havent read yet, so cant comment on).. the neha in FPS and vidhya in the three mistakes of my life.. how is it that these typically indian virgin girls always seem to take the first step in taking their relationships with the geeky guys to levels that are not yet acceptable or common-place among indian girls?

How is it that the geeky guys themselves are portrayed as angels..

hehe.. that might be a silly issue.. but if the stories were really true, then i bet those poor girls must be dying of humiliation given the kind of backgrounds they are described to belong to..

anyways, there are many people out there.. and each persons life is a different best-seller on its own.. but its only a handful who actually sit down to write it boldly and get it published.. no matter what the ulterior motives are..

chetan write in his simple, charming vocabulary with the lingo of typical indian youth.. with almost no research.. and got his work out there in the market..

I have read first 10 chapters of this book and didn't still not getting zeal to complete it.....reading ahaead for shake of compltion......Although I am a gr8 fan of Chetan but I am disappointed this time....Man write something new....something realistic which urge people to do something....to urge peopole to make love each other...to make people more better as a indiviual....I think ...I expecting little more from Chetan....

hi chetan ! just read your third book. i loved it but i think that some portions of the book are quite filmy.otherwise the book is very nice.

This book Is OK to be read... though a bit filmy a very good time pass. I read it in a single day within 3 hrs... Mama's character could have been portrayed in a little soft manner. otherwise its fine.
I read a comment( sorry a big complaint story scolding chetan) in here. I feel the person who is so much complaining can come up with a better writing also a better books of his own writing and then if all his books are exceptionally excellent he can comment this bad on others writing.. sorry for this

but i think it dosent match d standards with Five Point...
M a little disappointed..
It gives u a feel as if the writer has tried hard to write at an higher intellect level than he actually could do...
some of the sentences in d book just dont make sense no matter how many times u read them. sometimes u even feel like u r getting disconncted.. like .. whr was i? n whats this i m reading?
i hope it will give me a better feeling as i approach d end.. lets c..

The book is more like a bollywood masala flick.Its got everything to attract readers. Politics, romance, friendship, communal fanatics and much more...A decent book to read if ur too bugged of work. For 95 bucks,its not a bad deal to have.You wont regret it, i bet. A rating of 3 on 5 is what i give the book.

THIS BOOK HAS A GREAT START BUT I FELT DISAPPOINTED WITH THE END. IN BETWEEN STORY BECAME TOO FILMY. OVERALL I HAD A GOOD TIME.IT'S NOT A BAD IDEA TO BUY AND READ.

the 3 mistakes is quite gripping. I read it in one go.

Chetan Bhagat mixed cricket, politics, sentiment and sex a bit like a masala movie. But the scene of Mamji's team attacking Ali and his God fathers was more than filmy.

Even in a gruesome episode he makes the boy play cricket to kill the villain. A bit too much to take, even in a make believe bollywood movie. It is like a different version of Harry Potter, cricket in place of a spell.

I am sure it will make a movie soon. Good luck to Chetan Bhagat for the entertainer.

With a bit of a restraint the book would have been more acceptable. With his immense talent Chean Bhagat could produce better stuff, if only he shifts his focus for filmy stuff.

1) Three guys story
2) girl involvment who is related to a close person
3) Relation ship with that girl goes nasty
4) Difficult situations for all characters in their life
5) after that all fight well and won

thing that is changed is the background or u can call secenry
In previous book background is IIT Delhi,, Now its ahmdabad and cricket

chetan has to write some thing different from this in his next book
ELSE i am damn sure that his number of fans will decrease next time

The three mistakes of my life........

A good, simple, melodramatic, easy-to-comprehend and typically "ekta kapoor's serial" kind of book that you can't put down once u start. But the question is "Should you Start !! ?? ".......

Before jump to the answer, Let me start with Basics,

With Five Point Someone (FPS) Chetan has flown a new flavour rather new tone which impressed many novice readers like me. I would say that book has motivated me to start reading the books and put the Idiot Box aside. It has a touch, feel, and grievance the Indian youth has.

After FPS We, readers, wanted something different, catchy, flashy and particularly new flavour from this young, charismatic author. Our expections were touching skies.

There comes One Night At Call Center (ONCC). Again the same touch, same melodrama, same problems and above all same flavour. ONCC was worth reading but not worth suggesting others. The one very good point in ONCC was "message". That part made the book a bit different than the first one and the only part that was worth talking.

Quickly coming to the most awaited Three Mistakes of My Life(TMM), I was really excited when I heard Chetan has struck again. With some doubts but lots of hopes in the mind I went ahead and bought the book.

The start is awesome !! I must agree ( again !!) this book also forced me to complete it at one go only !! ( I guess this is the most appreciative quality of chetan , that he virtually applies glue to your a** ). This start has wiped out all my doubts and my hopes again were touching skies. I was expecting rather sensing a whole different kind of flavour.

Like Chetan's books my hopes were also not paving the expected way. Throughout the book my hopes get raped by the same "so called" touch, feel, melodrama and "flavour". It was like the new motorcycles launched these days juz by putting the curves here and there.

The uniqueness of the book was like this time Chetan has begged the content from some scary real life events like earthquake,riots in Gujrat. He was literally failing in displaying the culture, attitude and the thinking of Gujrati people. How can you expect The person who writes "Ambavadi" instead of "Amdavadi" throughout the book to reveal the real self of Amdavadi people.

A visit to Ahmedabad from Singapore on account of an "Email", a passion of coaching an unknown child, invitation from an Aussie Player to Australia, Offerings of Citizenship of Australia, patriotism of a 12 year old child.... all BS was the non-digestable material.

Enough of cynicism. Let me throw some light to the positives. The perfect length of book, a perfect "bollywood-masala" kind of mixture of cricket, business, earthquake and riots. Having Every required movie material in it say it -- Hero, Heroine, Villain, Supporting Actors and yes not to forget "Director" chetan is also there.

Now Back to the Question "Should we start !! ??"

As I have started loving maths ( after realizing even Maths can turn you on !! ),I would like to measure quantitatively and there goes my ratings :: 2.5/5.

All in all readable, provided "keep your hopes/expectations low".

An exceptional plot specially crafted for films.The periods selected such wisely as to include all the headlines...right from cricket test series to Bhuj earthquake,Godhra carnage and 9/11...so much in so little!!...and above that,it amalgamates business,cricket, politics and religion and also not to forget the thrilling and mesmerising love story between Govind and Vidya in such a way as to make it a must read for everyone!! I have really become a fan of Chetan's style of depicting romence and love.Well done...hats off to you man!!

The 'almost' Homerun... Its not all about the 3 mistakes but the scenario and circumstances surrounding the mentality of People who are:

1.1 Seeing his dreams shatter
1.2 confused b/w being Futuristic, realistic, practical or simply mean
2. Looking for an identity (Ishaan)
2.1 Avoiding the looks of his father every single moment
2.2 Doubting his own abilities and growing up from a player to a coach or should I say from a friend to a father?
3. Going by the masses (Omi)
3.1 Self Identity... Maybe... What's that?
3.2 Fluctuating.. Maybe a tussle within within the real and the apparent one (Till Death)
4. Who Cares (Vidya)
4.1 Perfect Hindi Movie material.. Sweet, Sexy and Dumb(only when not wanted)
4.2 Looking for a reason to live... Shd it be doc(mumbai)/love(Ahmedabad & Govind)
5. Standing by his words (Bittoo Mama)
5.1 Maybe the eternal truth haunted him... The goal allright.. The path towards it BS!
5.2 The die hard attitude and no getting mellowed down (Is there a movie in the making for this one as well?)
6. The little master (Ali)
6.1 Confused... No that's a confusing word
6.2 Abilities... a better batsMAN or a better huMAN
6.3 Definite patriot..Quite unusual for his age(12-13)

However the fantasy factor has not been thrown out of contection at all... the Aussie trip and saying no to the citizenship and moreover offering the citizenship... Oh I wish!

But a nice one... Very Chetan Bhagat-ish!

Expected better than this....

The Book is special ... i must say .. i read it in 1 go from morning 6-9:30, all the characters is like real ... and like another masala for movie maker ... the shots of Ali to knock down MAMA was simply straight out from some of the rajnikanth's extraordinary special effects... but dude ... this touch every round and corner of me and i touch every round and corner of my room while reading this ....

omi was great ... IShaan was superb .. and Govind is dumb... besides them Vidya was super sexy ..as described and ALI is the real hero of the story ...

If not .. can u imagine a 12 year boy getting offer for Australian citizenship and says "no" , i am an INDIAN .. and will remain for another 100 years ...

siply saying like others .. chetan bhagat's this epic is also classical .. a must read ....

I had loved his earlier books n even promoted it (the never failed word of mouth technique).Was so looking foward to read his next n dint spare a day to get my hand on the latest one.
But I was truly disappointed with it.The book starts off well but by the end of it i was wondering whether i have picked up a potboiler which belonged to Mishra my driver.
I understand Mr Bhagat is writing bollywood scripts.But sorry even the much acclaimed Bhojpuri films have upgraded their contents.

Yesterday morning when i was browsing the net, i found that this new book is being released. Accidently I got a chance to visit a book stall and got hold of this book ..Just started reading... Had to stop it in between because wanted to come to office ..Just waitng to go back and start reading again :)

this book is the biggest piece of crap that I've ever read..... If this is what is termed as a 'book',,, I could write such books every other weekend... hardly any effort required... Chetan should take a break.... or he should become a script writer of B grade movies...

Though story line is catchy, but boring at times,
but then again chetan makes up for it

I read the book in one go .liked it . the only problem was that it was too predictable. It was like watching a Mahesh Bhatt movie.

I finished reading this book last night. It was fun reading "The 3 mistakes of my life" like other two books of Chetan Bhagat. The feeling was like watching some masala movie..romance, emotions, friendship and finally a happy ending. Starting is quite a bit slow..the story took pace in the middle and keeps your attention untill finishes. Ali's godgift was the thing which I couldn't digest. Finally Its fun filled entertainment. worth reading once as time pass.

chetan bhagat books are really involving and true to the real life. I have just read the excerpts and the bonus excerpt from the official website..and was totally involved for the half an hour i read

he is such a great writer on the truths of the life. You really learn a lot of life from his books..!!

My first mistake:: picked the book::
Second mistake:: read it::
Third mistake:: completed it::
Fourth:: i am writing about the book::
No fourth one is actually dicey thing to say as of now because I don't think any body so pseudo intellectually strong ever bothers to read CHETAN BHAGAT!

The story is basically about a man Govind Patel from Belrampur(Gujarat) who writes a suicide email to Mr Chetan Coelho I mean Chetan Bhagat after popping sleeping pills.
Actually the book should be named as
"Govind decides to die”
or
“Chetan wants to become Paulo Coelho"
And the heights of shamelessness is attained when he directly produces lines from 11 minutes. Seems someone is too ignorant to even think that readers are not as dumb as he is.
Then seems Chetan is quite impressed by hackneyed ideologies of Indian film directors who put item songs for mirchi masala in the movie.

Cricket rules India that is true but what he cant understand is cricket is not what sentient readers prefer reading about all the time.

Anyways in between his reminder clock strikes his ninth mind bell and he decides to put in the ghastly intercourse of five point someone or maybe as a scholar he has dark little fantasy of watching professor and sex together. But then India is ranked second after Pakistan when it comes to watching porn and "Penthouse" has record breaking sales in India. So he doesn’t have to make it cheesy and campy it has already got enough to make is Farah Khan’s next movie even with Nana Patekar as Govind.

Trying to portray a typical cynical Mr Narendra Modi's mystical saffron Gujarat what Chetan has forgotten is even though he has shifted to Singapore India is not relying for him for any development. Things have taken giant strides when it comes to change of saffron canvas here. But then our IITian dude is the coolest Dood when it comes to writing about HIS INDIA : Moderland!

the first chapter seems very intriguing ....a good attention catcher.
i am waiting to buy the book myself.
i was preety dissapointed by the secound book's ending ....n hope this book doesnt give me any chance to complain.
