Independence day speech India Minister

My sincere congratulations to you all on the anniversary of our independence. Wherever you be May - the highest peaks of the Himalayas or on the shores of the Indian Ocean, on the sands of the desert of Rajasthan or in the green jungles of North-East, May achieve my greetings to you all.

Today is also the holiday of Raksha Bandhan. The power of friendship can even turn a simple hand-spun thread in an unbreakable relationship. On this happy occasion, I extend my best wishes to you all, especially to all my sisters.

This is the first Independence Day of this new century. If a return to the century just past, we must work hard to convert the challenges of the new century opportunities.

We must do our independence last forever. We must reiterate today our determination to defend our nation.

Today is a day of remembrance sacred. It is a time for introspection. We offer our sincere thanks to all known and unknown martyrs. The memory of their martyrdom live forever in our hearts. Their sacrifices always inspire us.

Today, we especially remember the Mahatma Gandhi. It was not only the first leader of our struggle for freedom, but it was also among the greatest personalities of the 20th century.

Today, the happy days, we extend our greetings to people of all countries in the world. We hope that the 21st century would bring the message of peace, brotherhood, cooperation and progress for the world.

Today, we send our best wishes to millions of non-resident Indians and persons of Indian origin living in other countries. May, wherever they live, they are still emotionally attached to India. We wish them all success and prosperity.

Today, I extend my congratulations to the people of the three new states which have found their place on the map of India after the reorganisation of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. We are convinced that the new states of Chhattisgarh, Uttaranchal, Jharkhand and will soon earn their place in the Union of India.

We have succeeded in our commitment to create these three new states. After the formation of these states, we must work together for their development so that they become shining examples of success.

The new century is a century of youth. India, who has lived for thousands of years, became a young nation. Nearly seventy percent of our population is under 35 years. These young men and women are more ambitious, more aware and more active than their predecessors. They not only Think Big, but also work hard to achieve their dreams.

I have full confidence in India of youth. It is our responsibility to support our young men and women in building a promising future for themselves and their homeland.

Dear compatriots, last year, when I was in front of you from the ramparts of this very Red Fort, our country was going through an extraordinary situation. The Lok Sabha was dissolved and announced new elections. In those circumstances, we had to face the aggression of Kargil. And India has emerged victorious in this war.

A year later, democracy has become stronger in the country. The India at the international level has increased. Our voice is heard with attention in capitals around the world.

India is in motion. India is full of self-confidence is moving forward on the path of progress.

It is an India which is determined to win against all adversities as well as our brave jawans and airmen who back the forces of the enemy.

Our hearts are always filled with lasting gratitude to the brave soldiers of the Kargil and all previous wars.

Pakistan would be committing a terrible folly if it believes it can guarantee anything by the undeclared war that leads against India. Kashmir was an inseparable part of India, and will remain so.
