Informations about Ubuntu 8.1

With Hardy now past freezing features, it is time to start planning characteristics that are lined up for inclusion after Ubuntu 8.04 LTS was released in April.

And that is why I would like to present the Intrepid Ibex, liberation which is scheduled for October 2008, and is likely to have the version number 8.10.

During the 8, 10 cycle we will be interesting to venture into new territory, and we must rude adventurousness of a mountain goat to navigate tricky terrain. Our office offers once once again be a focal point as we reorganize the model of user interaction so that Ubuntu works equally well on a high-end work as it does on a little tonic subnotebook. We will also have reached new heights performance - to make the office more productive mobile possible.

Particular attention for us will ever Internet access, ability to exploit the bandwidth whenever and wherever you happen to to be. No longer do you need to be anchored, pets -- you'll be able to move (and wandering goats do!) the nature of land and access the Internet through a variety of wireless technologies. We want you can move from office to train, and the house, staying connected all the way.

The Intrepid Ibex take shape at our next Ubuntu Developer Summit, an event open to which members of the community Ubuntu, upstream communities, businesses and developers other distributions are all invited. The summit takes place in the beautiful city of Prague, in the Czech Republic 19 - 23 May 2008. Together we will develop detailed plans for Ubuntu 8.10. Please join us there to help you define the Intrepid Ibex:

Ubuntu 8.10 will be our ninth version, and the fourth anniversary of the first version - 4.10. In these four years, Ubuntu has grown as a project, ethics and community. The Ubuntu community have worked set the benchmark for open, inclusive and collaborative the development process. We opened specifications, transparency in governance structures and a willingness of everyone to empower them unique contribution to the success of the project.

This has created an extraordinary diversity participation in a depth of talent whose packers, programmers, translators, writers, testers, lawyers, technical support, and many artists others. These contributions from both the business world -- Canon and other companies that have adopted Ubuntu as a nucleus of their offer - as a large number of professionals. It is this combination of expertise and perspectives which makes it such a pleasure for me to be part of this project, and I thank all of you for your passion, participation and energy.

Hardy is still our best development cycle, achieving our promise the reliability and stability for the Heron. We must stay focused on achieving this goal. Insofar as you have a great idea for the future, you now have a peg to hang on: - Intrepid Ibex. When Hardy took Heron, we commit ourselves fully with the Ibex. Give it horns!
